CONCEITO

The concept of Participation is to work urban design in the perspective of which the architect's role is punctual in relation to the citizen's continuous work in urban construction. The municipality of Gondomar belongs to the metropolitan region of Porto, being characterized by being a "dormitory", "peripheral" and "fragmented" municipality. The economic and social problems hinder a cohesive development and to change it is necessary to value and consolidate the recurrent practices and characteristics of the Gondomarenses, accentuating the local identity. By respecting this participation, it contributes in the formation of a unity and a sense of belonging for the whole municipality.

WHY?

As a response to the design of the described municipality, participation is proposed as a means of achieving “Citizen Urbanism”. For a greater settlement in the municipality, an urban design that prioritizes its population, its movement and its activity.
